Barrie M. Osborne

 

Barrie M. Osborne recently executive produced two independent films, Roger DonaldsonÕs The WorldÕs Fastest Indian starring Anthony Hopkins and Rowan WoodsÕ Little Fish starring Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving, Sam Neill and Martin Henderson. As producer of The Lord of the Rings: Return Of The King, Osborne won many awards including the 2004 Academy Award and the British Academy of Film and Television Award for Best Picture. Currently producing Laundry Warrior and Justice League of America.

 

Among other credits, Osborne executive produced The Matrix. His other producing credits include John Woo's Face/Off and China Moon. He has served as executive producer on The Fan, Dick Tracy, Child's Play, Wilder Napalm, Rapa Nui and Peggy Sue Got Married. A native New Yorker, Osborne earned a B.A. degree from Minnesota's Carleton College. He served as 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers before entering the film industry in 1970.

 

Accepted into the Directors Guild of America trainee program, Osborne worked under the tutelage of directors such as Francis Ford Coppola, Alan Pakula and Sydney Pollack on films including The Godfather Part II, Three Days of the Condor and All The Presidents Men. He subsequently worked on a number of films in various capacities including Apocalypse Now, The Big Chill, King of Comedy, The Cotton Club, Cutter's Way, Fandango and China Syndrome.

 

During a two-year tenure as Vice President for Feature Production at Walt Disney Pictures, Osborne oversaw numerous features including Ruthless People, The Color of Money, Tin Men, Three Men And A Baby, Tough Guys, Outrageous Fortune, Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and Good Morning Vietnam.

Michael Peyser

 

Michael Peyser is an accomplished producer of both major studio movies as well as cutting edge independent films.  He has spent his career mastering the challenges of the film industry both as a producer and a studio executive. Most recently he produced U2 3D stereoscopic film and Imagining Argentina starring Antonio Banderas and Emma Thompson under the direction of renowned British writer/director Christopher Hampton (Dangerous Liaisons, The Quiet American). Currently he is producing Laundry Warrior with Barrie Osborne.

 

Among his extensive credits, Michael has produced a wide range of commercially and critically successful films, including: Ruthless People (with Bette Midler and Danny DeVito); Big Business (with Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin), and the childrenÕs classic Matilda directed by Danny DeVito.   He also produced the comedies The Distinguished Gentleman starring Eddie Murphy; Camp Nowhere with Christopher Lloyd, and The Night We Never Met with Matthew Broderick and Annabella Sciorra.   He was the producer and executive producer respectively of Hackers and Desperately Seeking Susan - hip, edgy thrillers that featured the breakthrough performances for both Angelina Jolie and Madonna.

 

Michael launched the cult classic comedy Haiku Tunnel that premiered and was snapped up for distribution at the Sundance Film Festival.  SLC Punk! – A Sony Classics indie hit – also made its debut at Sundance. He worked for many years with Woody Allen, first as a production supervisor on Manhattan then as production manager on Stardust Memories and became Associate Producer on the following acclaimed Allen pictures: The Purple Rose of Cairo, Broadway Danny Rose, Zelig, and A Midsummer NightÕs Sex Comedy.  He was executive in charge of production on the huge hit comedy Arthur (starring Dudley Moore and Sir John Gielgud in his Oscar-winning performance). 

 

Early in his career he worked on Milos FormanÕs musical Hair and the classic thriller Marathon Man. Michael has also been a motion picture executive and was the founding Senior Vice President of Hollywood Pictures at Disney where he supervised creative development, production and a broad release schedule for an extensive slate of films. A New York native who makes his home with his wife and two daughters in Los Angeles; he enjoys the challenges and camaraderie of filmmaking and embraces all aspects of managing the creative endeavor.

Jon Labrie

 

Jon Labrie is a creative and experienced engineering executive with more than 20 years of experience in the digital technologies that drive innovation in global entertainment today.  In his capacity as Chief Technical Officer at Weta Digital from 1995-2003 he was the principle architect of the innovative technical infrastructure used to create the multiple Academy Award¨-winning visual effects for The Lord of the Rings trilogy. 

 

In that time Weta grew from two rooms with 7 artists to become one of the largest and most respected visual effects facilities in the world, with more than 300 creative professionals.  His credits include Broken Arrow, Independence Day, The Frighteners, Contact, and The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King.

 

Jon is also sole inventor of two proprietary, patent-pending gaming architectures targeted at mobile devices and users, and in 2003 founded Blister Wireless to exploit the IP.  Blister currently publishes two games in China and is developing a massively-multiplayer mobile game for distribution in the US.

 

A native of Los Angeles, Jon is also an accomplished public speaker with keynote speeches on computer-human interface design, digital visual effects, game development, and digital storage and networking architectures presented to capacity crowds in the US, Singapore, New Zealand, and Japan.

N. Madhusudhanan

 

Madhu is a pioneer and leader of the Indian visual effects and computer animation industry. He produced several TV commercials and corporate films before moving on feature film work. Madhu has produced visual effects for more than 60 motion pictures. In 2002, at the 49th National Film Festival in New Delhi, the honorable President of India Sri. Abdul Kalam presented him with the National Award for best visual effects for his supervision of Indian and Hollywood visual effects artists on the Tamil language Film Alavandaan. Recently he received the Dr. Zakir Hussain Memorial Award for outstanding achievement in the Arts from the Los Angeles Indo-American community. Madhu was also awarded with a special achievement honor for Visual Effects by Animation Xpress.com in Jan, 2008.

 

He has been instrumental in promoting IndiaÕs visual effects skills to the global film industry by supervising Indian artists in the execution of shots for The Lord Of The Rings – The Return of The King, which ultimately won an Academy Award for best visual effects. Madhu has worked on Stormbreaker, CLICK, and Spiderman 3 etc.

 

Madhu is an elected member of Visual Effects Society in Los Angeles, and in June 2005 was appointed as founding Chairman of the FICCI (Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) Visual Effects Community, a new post launched in Chennai on the 29th AugustÕ 2005. He also served as Sr. Vice-President at Applause Entertainment, Mumbai (Aditya Birla group of Companies). He is frequently quoted in industry magazines worldwide and is considered a leading role model in the Indian visual effects industry.
